Comfortable accommodation for the discerning traveller in Bradford on Avon

Welcome to Priory Steps

Priory Steps is the home of Carey and Diana Chapman, situated in the heart of the tranquil country town of Bradford-on-Avon. It offers a unique taste of English Rural Life in an area of great interest.

From the banks of the Avon River, once crossed by a broad ford which gives the town its name, replaced in the 14th century by a fine stone bridge complete with tiny chapel, past one of the finest examples of Saxon architecture in England, St Laurence Chapel, next to the Norman Church of Holy Trinity, up the steep hill where the Romans once grew vines, to make wine to quench the thirsts of visitors to the nearby City of Bath, to the top of the hill, where long lost Iron age civilizations built a fort with a commanding view over the countryside.

The town is a feast of fascinating architecture.

Bed and Breakfast

Priory Steps itself is part of this history. In 1985, Carey and Diana converted six 17th century weavers’ cottages to provide comfortable accommodation for the discerning traveller.

The five bedroom suites at Priory Steps all share panoramic views over the town towards Salisbury Plain. Period furniture and careful interior design combine to give each room an individual character. They offer a high standard of accommodation with en-suite bathroom and television and WiFi.  Tea and coffee facilities are provided.

With just five guest suites, Priory Steps will soon feel like your own home.

Self-catering

Priory Steps also have three very comfortable and spacious self-catering apartments. The Coach House is a spacious loft style apartment with a terrace again with wonderful views over the town.

Two apartments in the Old Bell Inn just across the road from Priory Steps are both on the ground floor and have their own entrances and small area to sit outside.

All three apartments have a bedroom with a king sized bed and two also have a comfortable double sofa bed in the living room so are ideal for families.
